Preparing your commercial space for severe weather Call us at (508) 223-0505, we're here to help!!

North Attleboro

South Attleboro

This past weekend we saw quite a bit of rain! And with it being hurricane season, we can look forward to seeing some more.

As a business owner, severe weather can make or break your business if you're not prepared. 50% of businesses don't open back up after a disaster! You don't want to be on that side of the 50%.

Steps to take prior to severe weather

1: Create a plan: One great way to plan ahead is to contact us for a SERVPRO ERP! This will help you be prepared in the case of an emergency, listing all exits and who to contact.

2: Have essentials on site: It's best to be prepared ahead of time rather than scrambling as the storm is brewing. Some items you should have in the office are

  • Flashlights
  • First aid kit
  • Bottled water
  • Non-perishable food
  • Batteries
  • Blankets

Maybe even some board games to keep the employees occupied in case you/they are stuck inside for a long period of time.

3:  Communicate: Stay in touch with your employees, especially if the severe weather is after or before work hours. Let them know if the office (or warehouse, or other commercial space) is not accessible, power has gone out, or if they need to evacuate or stay inside. If you have clients in and out on a daily basis, it's important to keep in touch with them and keep them updated as well.

4: Back up and protect your data and documents: Digital files may be great but, they are still just as at risk of being damaged as paper files. It's important that you back up your files, and be sure they're saved on external drives just in case!

5: Have a back-up power source (if your budget allows): Having a generator as a back up can keep your business up and running if the power were to go out. It can be your saving grace especially if you don't have a plan in place already.

It's very important as a business owner to be prepared in the case of any weather. No matter if its snow, rain, hurricane, or even tornado!

Give us a call at (508) 223-0505 to schedule an ERP so you can be prepared ahead of time, and call us if your business has suffered from any storm related damage, we're here to help you get back to business!
